Thursday, July 5 Port McNeill to Allison Harbour 3 ½ hours 38 miles

Of course our first trip was up to Mugz for a latte before we left the dock.  We headed out today either to go around Cape Caution or anchor in Allison Harbour until the seas improve.  The sea was flat in Cormorant Channel and in Queen Charlotte Sound for about 2 hours.  As we neared Allison Harbour we started getting 3 foot rolling seas from the ocean.  We listen to weather broadcasts to determine our movement frequently.  West Sea Otter buoy reported seas at 1.5 meters (= 5 feet).  This buoy accurately represents the seas as we pass Cape Caution.  Needless to say, we stayed in Allison.  Allison is a huge but very protected anchorage.  We see several snow-capped mountains to the west.  We will get much closer to them in a few days.
